Website and service terms · pre-launch draft

Clear terms, before anyone pays.

These terms explain the current website status and the principles intended to govern future bookings. They are not yet the final patient contract.

No booking contract yet

Appointments and payments are not currently available. Prices, panels, analytes, turnaround, clinic location, laboratory pathway and clinical-review arrangements are indicative until confirmed in the information shown immediately before booking.

1. About these terms

The website is operated for the pre-launch AK-LABS Manchester project. The full contracting legal entity, company details and service address will be displayed before a consumer contract can be formed. Current website information is general and may be updated as launch arrangements are completed.

2. Eligibility

The planned service is for adults aged 18 and over. AK-LABS may decline or postpone a collection where it cannot safely or lawfully provide the service, where required information or consent is absent, or where the requested service is outside its confirmed scope. Any prepayment will be handled under the final cancellation and refund policy and applicable law.

3. Forming a contract

When booking opens, the customer will be shown the selected panel, final analytes, total price including mandatory charges and applicable taxes, clinic location, preparation, expected performance and turnaround, cancellation rights and applicable terms. A contract is expected to form only when the booking is accepted and confirmation is issued. The final booking journey will explain this precisely.

4. The planned service

  • Professional venous sample collection at the confirmed Manchester clinic.
  • Analysis through the laboratory pathway identified before payment.
  • Secure delivery of the report through the route stated at booking.
  • An optional, separately booked £99 clinician-led results review where available.

AK-LABS may use appropriately qualified staff and contracted providers. Their roles, quality credentials and relevant limitations will be disclosed accurately.

5. Customer responsibilities

Customers will be expected to provide accurate identity and contact information, follow the panel-specific preparation instructions, disclose information reasonably needed for safe collection and attend at the agreed time. Customers must not stop or change prescribed medicines without advice from an appropriate clinician. Failure to follow preparation may affect results or require recollection.

6. Samples, laboratory issues and recollection

Collection can occasionally be unsuccessful, and samples can be affected by clotting, haemolysis, insufficient volume, transport delay, stability limits or laboratory quality controls. The final policy will explain when AK-LABS will arrange recollection, repeat analysis, partial refund or full refund, taking account of responsibility, work already performed and consumer rights.

7. Turnaround and availability

Any turnaround shown will be an estimate unless expressly guaranteed. Referral assays, repeat analysis, sample problems, courier disruption and circumstances beyond reasonable control may delay a result. AK-LABS will communicate material delays and provide the remedies required by law and the final contract.

8. Results and clinical limitations

Laboratory results are information and are not, by themselves, a diagnosis. Reference ranges and methods may differ. An in-range result does not rule out disease; an out-of-range result does not by itself establish one. AK-LABS does not replace emergency, GP or specialist care. Call 999 or attend A&E for an immediate risk to life, and contact NHS 111 for urgent medical advice.

9. Significant and critical findings

AK-LABS will use the verified contact details and documented escalation process confirmed before launch. Customers will be responsible for keeping those contact details accurate and responding to contact. The process does not convert AK-LABS into an emergency or continuous-monitoring service.

10. Optional clinical review

The £99 review will be a separate service. Before payment, AK-LABS will state the clinician’s identity, registration, insurance, scope, duration, limitations and follow-up. The review will not guarantee diagnosis, treatment or prescription and will not advise on the use of non-prescribed anabolic substances.

11. Prices and payment

The total payable price, mandatory charges, payment timing and any applicable VAT will be prominent before an order is placed. AK-LABS will not rely on hidden charges. Payment-provider terms may also apply, but they will not remove statutory consumer rights.

12. Cancellation, cooling-off and refunds

Online service contracts can carry statutory cancellation rights. The final journey will explain the applicable 14-day cooling-off right, how to cancel and what happens if a customer expressly asks for the service to begin during that period. No cancellation charge or retained prepayment will exceed a fair amount reflecting work performed and genuine loss, subject to statutory rights. See the separate complaints, cancellations and refunds page.

13. If AK-LABS cancels

If AK-LABS cannot provide the booked service and the customer is not at fault, it will offer a reasonable alternative or refund the affected prepaid service. This does not restrict any stronger remedy available under consumer law.

14. Reasonable care and statutory rights

AK-LABS will provide services with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or rights under applicable consumer law.

15. Website use and intellectual property

The website may be used for lawful personal information purposes. Users must not interfere with security, attempt unauthorised access, misuse content or introduce malicious material. AK-LABS branding and original site content may not be commercially copied or represented as another provider’s material without permission.

16. External links

Links to NHS, regulator or guidance websites are provided for convenience. AK-LABS does not control external content and a link is not an endorsement of every statement or service on that site.

17. Privacy

Personal information will be handled under the privacy notice and applicable data-protection law. The clinical service will not open until the final controller, processors, lawful bases, special-category condition, retention and security arrangements have been documented.

18. Complaints and disputes

AK-LABS will provide an accessible complaints process and will investigate concerns fairly without adversely affecting care. The final page will name the complaint lead, response timeframes and any applicable independent escalation route. Consumers retain the right to seek other remedies.

19. Changes

Website information may change before launch. Once a contract is formed, AK-LABS will not make a material change that disadvantages the customer without a valid reason, clear notice and an appropriate right to cancel or remedy.

20. Governing law

The final contract is expected to be governed by the laws of England and Wales. A consumer living elsewhere in the UK retains any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings available under the law that applies to them.

Fair and transparent terms

This draft reflects the CMA’s current guidance on fair consumer contracts. It must still be reviewed against the final service and booking journey before launch.
